Julian and Claudia have been dancing the Argentine Tango in San Francisco since the community began establishing in the Bay Area in the early 1990’s. World-renowned performers and instructors from Buenos Aires who have their own unique way of dancing have ultimately influenced Julian and Claudia’s style. The versatility of their self expression is one that can reflect the unique and innate qualities of a milonguero-social dancer, raw and understated, with a profound subtle interpretation of music, to a more modern version incorporating highly innovative complex patterns with sensual and dynamic movements.
Julian & Claudia have been invited to perform and conduct dance workshops in and outside the United States: Mexico, Germany, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippine and Hawaiian Islands…..
Along with teaching weekly classes, they organize weekly dance events, Milongas, where they invite former students, friends and visiting instructors to teach dance workshops and dj.
In 2001 Julian started his formal music studies and soon after focused on the main instrument of Argentine Tango, the bandoneon. In 2005 he co-founded and was a member of the first Argentine Tango Orchestra formed in the United States, the San Francisco Tango Orchestra directed by Roman Rosso and was the 2nd bandoneonist of the ensemble Seth Asarnow y su sexteto tipico.
As tango dance instructors Julian and Claudia have developed a teaching method that emphasizes sensitivity to the partner, rhythm & phrase of the music and the biomechanics of leading and following the fundamental motions --- the foundation of every style. This allows their students to be versatile and open-minded to the variety of tango styles so that, in the end, they too may develop their own mode of dancing. The philosophy of their teaching is to guide the students to clearly see the fundamental motions within the complicated patterns of the Argentine Tango, making their progress and the dance itself easy and exciting.
